Christy Coloutti is the Principal at Northwest Primary school and Pierpoint Personalized Learning Center. Christy has been dedicated to the field of education for more than 24 years working with students ranging from birth through college. Prior to being the Principal at Northwest, she served as the Principal of Proctor Elementary School for 10 years. Christy has taught as a general educator for two years with the rest of her career in the field of special education and administration.
Chrisy is passionate about supporting students in an inclusive environment and has been recognized for her leadership with inclusion by the Agency of Education. She supports all learners and feels all students need to feel valued and respected.
Christy has her Bachelor of Arts in education with a special education minor. She completed her Masters of Education from Castleton University as Director of Support Services and School Principal. She has also completed the Vermont Superintendents Academy to obtain her endorsement. She believes that it is important to be a lifelong learner and to continue to improve her practices to be an effective leader.
She currently serves on the Activities Standards Committee and has served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Vermont Principals Association. She has taught courses at Castleton University and mentors new principals each year. Most recently she was recognized by the Vermont Principals Association as the Vermont 2023 NAESP National Distinguished Principal of the Year. She enjoys working and supporting other educators and feels passionate about supporting teachers as leaders.
Christy resides on Lake Bomoseen with her Australian Shepard, Ruger and her husband, Tom. She has two daughters, Halle and Ryleigh; they all enjoy being outdoors, traveling and watching sports.
